How bleach kills germs
 
Bleach has always been a recommended item for home stockpiles, as a cheap, effective disinfectant. The exact mechanism of how hypochlorate kills bacteria has varied, last thing I knew, involved the production of O- free radicals. New research here:

Interesting. Especially that the human body produces the stuff and the possible relevance in necrosis during chronic inflammation.
